For this purpose, mixed method studies research design was applied, and quantitative data gathered from the academic achievement test and through GIS attitude scale and qualitative data was collected through semi structured interviews. The data was collected in two groups. 40 students were consisting of control group and 40 were consist of experimental group of tenth class geography study students in Malaysia. Among of these, experimental group has been taught through the AL activities, whereas the control group has been taught through activities of textbook which was prepared according to the geography studies curriculum. The quantitative results shown that it was found a significant change within experimental groups scoring and was also a significant change within the experimental groups of average pre-test and post-test scoring in the GIS attitude scale. On the other hand, the qualitative results had shown that student were not bored during the classroom lectures in the course of geography studies, and they were being more active in the class. Along with these findings, the study added a body of literature that could helped to increase the new research area in future and could helped to the geography teachers and academic policy makers to know about the importance of GIS scale.
Mu'tasime Abdel Jaber, Omar Abdeljaber, Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, I.A Ariffin, Shakeerah Mohd Shukri Copyright (c) 2022 https://archives.palarch.nl/index.php/jvp/article/view/10662 Thu, 11 Nov 2021 00:00:00 +0000 TO INVESTIGATE INTERRELATIONSHIP AMONG SOCIO ECONOMIC VULNERABILITY, GEOGRAPHICAL VULNERABILITY AND FLOOD VULNERABILITY: A STUDY FROM GEOGRAPHICAL PERSPECTIVE OF MALAYSIA https://archives.palarch.nl/index.php/jvp/article/view/10663
Vulnerability research frequently evaluate the risk which effects the ability of system to respond in the case of a hazardous event. Risk is commonly associated with the system's social, physical, and economic components. Floods are a type of climate-related danger with an added spatial dimension. Therefore, the study objective is to check the interrelationship among socio economic vulnerability, geographical vulnerability, and flood vulnerability of Malaysia. To get this objective, the data was collected from the 250 social vulnerability of household by using a convenient sampling technique. Using cross sectional research design and quantitative research approach. The study proposed the Partial Least Square (PLS)-Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique along with several latent variables. The results had shown that social indicators get a proper significant contribution which is mainly from the direct impact of spatial neighborhoods and socio-economic conditions and indirect impact land tenure and demographics. Based on these findings, it is concluded that PLS-SEM is successfully amalgamated the joined vulnerability from the geographical and social factors. The SEM allowed an integrative evaluating vulnerability variable through various disciples and scales and therefore, offers a creative prospect for creating the more custom-made policies to the combat hazards.

Saba Alnusairat, Rana Elnaklah, Junainah Abd Hamid, I.A Ariffin, Jacquline Tham Copyright (c) 2022 https://archives.palarch.nl/index.php/jvp/article/view/10663 Thu, 11 Nov 2021 00:00:00 +0000 INFORMATION SYSTEM, GEOGRAPHY, INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND TOURISM PLANNING: A GEOGRAPHICAL PERSPECTIVE FROM MALAYSIA https://archives.palarch.nl/index.php/jvp/article/view/10664
The study objective is to check the moderating influence of institutional factors on the association of geography (GGY), application of geography information system (AGMS), information management system (IMS), and tourism planning (TP) of Malaysia. For this objective primary data was collected from 367 geographical and tourism management authorities with utilizing a convenient sampling method that shows a 75.4% response rate. The Partial Least Square (PLS)-Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method effects had revealed that GGY, IMS and GIS had a direct positive as well as significant relationship with the TP. However, the indirect influence also indicated that IF had significant and positive moderating influence among an association of GGY, IMS and AGMS and TP. These findings had shown that IF important moderating variable is, as a result, this association is regarded as a significant addition of the research. Furthermore, this work may add to the existing body of literature, perhaps opening a new avenue of future research. At the conclusion of the study, the study's limitations and prospects were also discussed.
Saba Alnusairat, Rana Elnaklah, Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, Johar MGM, Ali Khatibi Copyright (c) 2022 https://archives.palarch.nl/index.php/jvp/article/view/10664 Thu, 11 Nov 2021 00:00:00 +0000 DETERMINANTS OF ECONOMIC GEOGRAPHY OF MALAYSIA: MODERATING EFFECT OF GEOGRAPHIC DIVERSITY AND GEOGRAPHICAL LEADERSHIP https://archives.palarch.nl/index.php/jvp/article/view/10665
In the current competitive environment, the growth of the economy is created a big contribution in the development of any country. If it is not properly addressed, then the development of any country from the geographical perspective could be deployed. It was observed in the literature that Malaysia has several issues from the economic geographical growth perspective issues as compared to other countries. To address these issues, the current study objective was to investigate the moderating of geographical diversity and geographical leadership on the relationship of institutional factors (INF), space factors (SPF), geographical indicators (GEI), power factors (POF) and economic geography (EOG) of Malaysia. For this purpose, the data was collected from the 350 geographical planning employees through a survey questionnaire by using a convenient sampling technique which shows 70 percent response rate. The cross-sectional research design was employed and used the quantitative research approach. The Partial Least Square (PLS)-Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) techniques results had shown that all exogenous variables had positive and significant relationship with the endogenous variable. The indirect findings had also found that both moderating variables have significant moderating effect among all the exogenous and endogenous variables. This moderating effect could be considered big contribution of the study that could add a body of literature in the extant that could become a new area of research in future.
Yacoub Hamdan, Tariq Qarem, Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, I.A Ariffin, S.M.
