Abstract

Covid 19 is a major infectious disease and it can be a destructive disease,mostly affecting the senior citizens. Covid 19 is caused by SARS-COV2 virus.This virus is can potentially cause fatality.The aim of this present study is to assess the awareness about the COVID 19 pathogenesis among dental students and practitioners as it is essential for the students to ensure complete knowledge about the disease process to provide effective treatment and follow the necessary precautions. A questionnaire study was done to assess the knowledge about the covid 19 pathogenesis among 100 dental students. A self designed questionnaire consisting of 30 questions were framed and the responses were collected through google forms. The data were statistically analysed by using SPSS software. The results were tabulated in the form of bar diagrams and showed that most students were well aware of the pathogenesis and disease course of covid-19. The present study concluded that,the overall responses showed a good level of awareness among most students and practitioners, though some of them are not aware of covid 19 pathogenesis and hence it is the responsibility of the dental fraternity and teachers to improve the knowledge with various aids and tools of learning.
