ANALYSIS IMPLEMENTATION OF PRO-ENVIRONMENTAL ELECTIONS IN MANADO CITY FROM ELECTION ORGANIZER PERSPECTIVE
Abstract
In 2020 simultaneous elections were held in Indonesia, and in Law no. 7 of 2018 concerning General
Election explicitly states that every candidate must conduct a campaign and use environmentally
friendly props. In addition, the attitude and behavior of candidates must be able to fight for the
concept of environmentally sound development. This study aims to analyze the understanding of
election organizers regarding the implementation of pro-environment elections in the city of Manado.
Determination of the sample is done by purposive sampling to run a questionnaire to the election
organizers to be asked for a response whether the election held in the city of Manado has applied the
principle of pro-environment. From the results of the research literature studies, observations and
interviews on pro-environment forms of election that should be carried out in elections are conducted.
The results of the study indicate that the understanding of election organizers oriented to
environmentally friendly concepts will support their attitude in issuing pro-environment regulations.
The results showed that the perception of election activists in carrying out pro-environment elections
was already quite high but had not been socialized in the form of rules nor did they have a clear form
of implementation. The level of awareness of the running of pro-environment elections is not
guaranteed. Perceptions about saving the environment are at the highest level, namely ecocentric, but
their view of pro-environment elections is still below the level of expectations. For this reason, further
intervention is needed so that in the future the elections will take part in fighting for environmental
rights for the realization of the vision of sustainable development in the city of Manado.
