LEADERSHIP AND COMMITMENT AS THE PREDICTOR OF JOB SATISFACTION RESPONDED BY WORK PERFORMANCE: CASE OF PRIVATE SECTOR EMPLOYEE IN BATAM CITY

Abstract

Human resources are the important element of the factory, as to support the company activities include the employee, labor, and manager. The factory with the qualified human resources will have good impact the development of the factory. So that, the work performance become important factor as the result of human resource development. The research aims to analyze the factor of leadership and commitment as the predictor of job satisfaction responded by work performance of private sector employee. In answering the research question, the author uses quantitative method with questionnaire instrument to get the primary data. There are 50 respondents of private sector employee in Batam City was chosen through simple random sampling, to answer the questions from four different variables. The data analysis use path analysis linear regression of the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). Path analysis linear regression supported by descriptive analysis, assumption test, t-test, and F-test. The result shows that leadership have direct influence towards employee performance, while commitment have indirect influence towards employee performance. The variable of leadership, commitment and job satisfaction simultaneously impact to the employee performance about 29.4%, but only leadership that has partial impact.
