EXTENSIVE REVIEW ON COMMUNICATIVE TOOLS USED BY FARMERS IN INDIA TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF AGRIBUSINESS
Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to check the level of awareness of usage of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) and digital tools among the farmers in India, leading towards sustainable development of Agribusiness. The paper also emphasises on the various requirements of farmers and the digital tools available to farmers in India. Approach and Methodology: Researchers reviewed the systematic literature review to summarise digital tools and technologies and its influence among farmers. The researcher also has identified Information Communication Technologies (ICT) and digital tools used by farmers in India. Researchers analysed the level of awareness among farmers about the use of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) and digital tools using the questionnaire method. To collect the data, the researcher selected a sample size of 509 farmers from Rajasthan state in India. The focus of the survey was to identify the significant gaps for common digital knowledge of various government initiatives usage among farmers. Researchers analysed the level of awareness using statistical tool SPSS and applied ANNOVA test for providing the results. Findings: Based on the statistics, the level of awareness of digital tools and technologies among farmers is poor and it has to be uplifted. Value and Originality: The study offers a systematic literature review to provide a holistic view of available ICT tools and their awareness among different farmers. Information Communication Technologies (ICT) considered as one of the most cost and time-effective tools. The research paper mainly emphasizes on the aspects which may boost the use of digital technologies among farmers and lead to the sustainable development of Agribusiness. Also, it may help the Government of India to identify the gaps in the Digital India Sector and helps to draft the IT policies for agriculture sector for sustainable development. Research Limitations: The research is a non-funded. Due to time constraints, the data is collected from only one state, Rajasthan, India, where economy is more likely dependent on agriculture and allied services.
