ROLE CONFLICT IN DECISION MAKING BY PILOTS IN INDONESIAN PORT CORPORATION

The purpose of this research is to determine the mental process models Guide / Pilot conflict of roles, decision-making in critical situations. This research is qualitative with phenomenology approach of Schutz (2001) and qualitative methods to explain the phenomenon of inter subjectivity and rather looking at the analysis of science. The subjects were six guides/pilots and they were selected purposively. The theory being used is the phenomenological theory, the role theory and the theory of decision-making. The results showed that the critical situation from the guide / pilot experiences conflict when faced with a decision. The data collection is done through observation and in-depth interviews. The composition of the five elements: logic, efeksi, personal values, group norms and expectations is a mental representation of a model from Guide / Pilot in making a decision, the composition of the five elements will be different from each other. Mental processes used models differ from one another. There are six elements that are used in the process of mental model. The six elements are used in the form and intensity that is different from each other. The thing that differentiates is a critical situation that occurs and the characteristics from Guide / Pilot.
