ECONOMIC CONSEQUENCES OF COVID-19 ON THE CITY OF MAKKAH
Abstract
CoronavirushasalargefamilyandcanresultinillnessthatcanrangefromacommoncoldtoveryseverediseasesliketheMiddleEastrespiratorysyndromeandsevereacuterespiratorysyndrome.Itwasdeclaredtobeapandemiconthe20thMarch2020byWHOasitwasspreadgloballyandwascausingseriousconsequences(AÇIKGÖZ&GÜNAY,2020).Ahighnumberofpilgrimsareattractedbyreligiousfestivalseveryyear.Thesereligiousgatheringscanresultinanincrementintherateoftransmissionoftheinfectiousdiseaseandalsocompromisethesystemofhealthofthehostcountry(Memishetal.,2014).ThisstudywillanalyzetheeconomiceffectscausedbyCOVID-19inthecityofMakkah.
