Abstract

NgũgĩwaThiong'o’s novel Matigari(1986) incorporated postcolonial wrestle between conformist and wage earners. The Matigari ma Njirungi is the voice that rose against the imperialists for the rights of common people who are hegemonized by the power with the belief of truth and justice. The abstract proposition of truth and justice,people draw out from religious belief that if you are in truth you will get justice. But the regime defines loyalty and compliance is the measure of truth and justice. In this novel it wears a verdict façade to aid political expedition so that ruler can establish their truth and justice and can utilize the mass according to their will.This constant practice of faith and fidelity benefited the master. The power governs human mind irrespective of color and creed. It directs men’s vision toward monetary obtain. Jhon Boy, Jhon Boy junior, and Giceru are those who exploit their own people to just because of gaining a standing position behind the White authority. Matigarima Njirungi is a drift that shaken the “Voice of Truth” and the “The Minister of Truth and Justice”. This paper tries to highlight how “truth and justice” is appeared as political aid for authority to penetrate fear in the state to be in power.
