A STUDY OF THE IMPACT OF PSYCHOLOGICAL EMPOWERMENT ON ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT IN THE SERVICE SECTOR

Abstract

The research objective of the paper is to determine the relationship between psychological empowerment and organizational commitment in the service sector, with special reference to the higher education sector, particularly in the Delhi / NCR region. A standardized questionnairewas used to collect data for the study. Data was collected from the teaching staff of private universities located in the Delhi/NCR region of India. A sample of 200 teaching staff was taken into consideration for conducting the research. Descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression analysis have been estimated using SPSS 23.0 Software. The results show thatpsychological empowerment and organizational commitment are positively and significantly related to each other. The analysis of the results of the present study led to the generation of several suggestions for teaching staff working in private universities. An effort has been made to identify the limitations of the study and address any possible implicationsthey may come to bear upon the results of the study.
