Abstract

The common and popular criticism we come across about women at present is “women are crossing the limits”. Do they really? It may be true because women have replaced their old age battle of silence with protest and resistance as their new weapon. Lajja and French Lover are the two novels which have been taken for discussion. These two novels by Taslima Nasrin Lajja and French Lover deals about woman deprived of an identity of her own, finally riser to challenge the so called established societal norms created in favour of men. She sets out to protest the bias in treatment and resist all the moves to subjugate women perennially. Nasrin has depicted the female heroes who were mistreated in the male centric culture not simply by the men yet additionally because of the political and strict clashes. This article attempts to bring out how women are dominated by patriarchal hegemony.
