These regulations have been critically analysed and assessed by researchers over the years but the industry has come a long way and in the last few years the industry has paved its way from being second most sugar producing country to being the top most in the world. However, India continuing to lag behind in terms of sugar export, is struggling with excess stocks and underutilizing the by-products of sugar.
