Abstract
With the growth and development of the world economy in general and India in particular the livelihood of the people is getting better but economic growth is often alleged with fact that it is related to environmental degradation directly or indirectly. In this paper we will try to answer the question whether increasing GDP is causing more CO2 emission or GDP is increasing because of the more CO2 emitting activities. The data for the study have been collected mainly from the secondary sources such as WB databank, research papers, government reports etc.
