CHALLENGES OF ONLINE LEARNING: DIGITAL INEQUALITY IN THE CONTEXT OF INDIA

Abstract

The 21^st Century is the era of science and technology where  the  world has witnessed the possibilities of the shift from  the traditional mode of learning to digital or online learning. In India also, the acceptance of online learning   has been spreading very fast due to its accessibility, affordability  etc. The government of India is supporting online education  because of its potential to improve the quality of education and   has made efforts to  make digital learning available to students in every corner of the country.  But in the developing countries like India, It is still not becoming possible to provide proper digital infrastructure to each and every individual of the country. This paper attempts to study  the advantages and disadvantages of online learning in India   highlighting digital inequality as its one of the major challenges.
