LEGAL CERTAINTY OF PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION IN BUYING AND SELLING USER ACCOUNTS
Abstract
The Over the Top (OTT) service users are required to create a user account. However, the
personal data used to complete the registration is vulnerable to trespass. Thus, this study aims
to analyze the legal protection of the personal data used to create a user account. This study
applies the normative approach in addition to the statute and conceptual approaches. In the end,
this study concludes that the OTT service provider also prohibits the user account ownership
transfer. By banning the account transfer, its data will remain intact, and the user can control
whoever permitted to access the data in the user account.
